Simple Things Sunday: Sunday's Letters

Dear Starbucks, after so long, I finally took a glimpse of the aromas bursting through the door, the atmosphere, the people, the lighting, the walls, the decor, the pretty tumblers sitting on the shelve and often the friendly baristas rushing back and forth. I finally held one of your pretty holiday cups and drank a sweet tasty drink, can't wait to try the rest of your holiday treats!

Dear Stress you seem to go away and come back as strong as can be. I try to ignore your existence in my life but it can be hard to do. You seep right through the cracks and when I least expect it all erupts. Or the other analogy I like, is feeling like I'm being pushed underwater and not being able to come up to take a breath. The hardest part is learning how to balance life and not letting you seep through those cracks.

Dear Date Night where have you been, where have you been hiding? I know where you have been, sitting on the back burner, that's where you have been hiding. I was so caught up in other things, things that are important but are not worth forgetting that you exist. I've come to terms and have decided to bring you back into my life because you certainly put a much needed smile on my face.

Dear Balance my body, mind, and soul need you. Realizing that "balance" is much needed in my life has been so hard lately. My body was aching, my mind was feeling burnt out, and my soul was screaming "slow down." I had to learn the hardest way to balance my life.

Dear Happiness after trying to balance life, dealing with stress and life I have learned that at the end of the day being happy and having the most important people in my life is all that matters.

Thoughts
I thought I would share a bit of my life lately. I guess this is my blog and it's okay to share how I feel. I guess one is always learning about ones' life and everyday experiences and I love that I can come here and reflect, it makes me feel better :)

How do you guys balance family, career, and life in general?

Just in case you missed it
You didn't miss a thing this week but you can check out some of my previous Sunday's letters!

Five for Friday: 5 Top Pick Fossil Women's Watches

I have a thing for Fossil, I love their simplicity, clean architecture and timeless looks. I currently own a fossil watch and I absolutely love it, but I'm looking to expand my collection with one or more than one of my top 5 picks. If I could own all 5 of my picks I would be in heaven, they're just beautiful!

1. The Cecile has two of my favorite colors, rose gold and sand. This watch would match a lot of my wardrobe and it's something I can wear everyday. This is also a great transition piece from day to night wear.

2. The Chelsey is one of my top picks out of the 5 because it's so versatile. The straps are interchangeable and the website offers different colors, textures, and widths. The straps allow for the watch to match literally any outfit and I can wear this watch everyday as well, which is why this watch is one of my favorites.

3. The Georgia is also beautiful, it's simple and elegant yet it has a unique look and it's gold. I love that the face of the watch is big and simple. The straps look like a bracelet and I can just picture this watch paired up with other bracelets.

4. The Jacqueline is very similar to the Cecile except the Jacqueline watch has thinner straps and the face has a more casual look with the white background and the brown roman numerals. This is a great watch for everyday use but specially for those super casual outfits.

5. The Chelsey in Stainless Steel is also beautiful and it's all silver (stainless steel). The face is also elegant with multifunction movement and small details. This is a great timepiece that lends itself perfectly to day-to-night dressing.

If I had to pick, like I said, I would pick all of them because they're all different and unique timeless pieces. But realistically I can't pick all of them at the same time, I have to build my collection over time, so for now I would pick the Chelsey because it's so versatile and it has touches of gold. My second pick would be the Chelsey Stainless steel because it's a timeless piece, simple, silver, and it's a watch I can wear during the day and at night.

Which one was your favorite pick?
Do you have any suggestions for watches similar to these? I would love to see other options around the same price point!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a Great Friday!

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

Sedona, AZ "Dia de los Muertos" celebration

In lieu of Sunday's Letters I'm honoring family and friends who watch over us from a peaceful place. Today I honor them and celebrate them in a very special way!
If you do, how do you celebrate Day of the Dead?

Here is a little history for you:
Dia de los Muertos celebrates the lives of loved ones who have parted with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life. Dia de los Muertos recognizes death as a natural part of the human experience, a continuum with birth, childhood, and growing up to become a contributing member of the community. On Dia de los Muertos, the dead are also a part of the community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones.

The most familiar symbol of Dia de los Muertos may be the calacas and calaveras(skeletons and skulls), which appear everywhere during the holiday: in candied sweets, as parade masks, as dolls. Calacas and calaveras are almost always portrayed as enjoying life, often in fancy clothes and entertaining situations

Happy Sunday!

Simple Things Sunday: Sunday's Letters

{image via flickr: Farm at Great Langdale, England}

Dear Sunset you are one of the greatest wonders of the world. I see the sun in the horizon illuminating the sky with colors of cotton candy, colors of bright orange, red, pink, blue, and purple. You display breathtaking scenes that, once again, you remind me of just how important the simple things truly are.

Dear Farm you host tranquility, peacefulness, restfulness, calmness, quietness, stillness and so much more. Sometimes I wish I lived surrounded by all your elements and admire the boundless surroundings, the mature trees that scream serenity, the animals that roam freely without worries, and the simplicity of life.

Dear Simple Life when will I be able to live your life? Sometimes I feel life passing by a million miles per hour and it doesn't seem to slow down. I feel your simplicity for a few minutes here and there and then you're gone. I know it's all about enjoying the simple things in life and that is why I write these letter to you; to be reminded of the meaning of a simple life!

Dear Earth your lush prairies, mountains that surround every corner, flora that amazes and gives back, fauna that wander and venture into a world of survival, bodies of water that sit and wait until the day we decide to be conscious of the dangers that threaten, and humans that long for the days of peace and friendship. I just have to slow down and appreciate all that you give and all that lives in you.

Dear Nature you are unexplainable in every way, yet amazing and astonishing. You surprise with great fury, yet with a gentle touch. The way you make everything have a purpose and meaning, the way you evolve into displaying mesmerizing sunsets, the way you remind me that I have to stop and and enjoy the small things that bring the greatest joys in life.

Thoughts
This week has been filled with a whirlwind of emotions that have brought on challenges and tears, and that sense of not being able to come up to the surface to take a breath of air. Thankfully I have amazing people around me that support me and my journey through life. Sunday's Letters have also allowed for me to reflect on the little things, the things that really matter, the things that give me happiness; the simple things in life.

Casual Fall & Winter Style

If I had to describe my style...
I would describe it as minimalist, simple, clean, and neutral, basically like everything I pin. So I thought I would do a roundup of my favorite Fall & Winter style pins!

My "must-have" fall/winter casual basics are: cute cardigans and sweaters, cute shoes (my shoes are usually my statement piece), basic skinny and boot jeans, and basic white tees (love Target tees).

Here are my top 10 Pinterest picks and can I just say that I love pinning Polyvore outfits, they always create the best outfits!

As you can see my style is pretty laid back. I personally love wearing basics and tying everything together with a statement piece such as jewelry, accessories, or shoes!

If you want to see more of my fall/winter pins be sure to follow me on Pinterest :)
What are your fall/winter "must-have" clothing/shoe/accessories basics?
How do you define your style?

Happy Friday!

Simple Things Sunday: Sunday's Letters

Dear October I'm so glad you're finally here but sometimes I wish I could say "I'm glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" unfortunately that's not the case here in this Sonoran Desert. I don't get to see those beautiful colors that scream Fall, but it's okay I'm not complaining because we finally get to enjoy beautiful days!

Dear North Rim your grandeur majestic views are breathtaking. Every part of your canyon, every part of your steep walls, every part of your flora and fauna, and every part of your view is just spectacular. I can see now why you have earned the title of one of the seven wonders of the world. I can't wait for the day that I get to see you and appreciate your beauty even more.

Dear Banana Bread you are my favorite and I'm so glad I can actually bake your savory goodness. It's that time again to get those bananas to ripen and, why not, to try and add new flavors to the mix. I can't wait for the aroma that fills every corner and for the delectable bread to fill our palates with joy.

Dear Skin you go through so much, yet you're there standing strong protecting me from natures' elements. It's that time of year when I really need to take care of you and keep you moisturized because I can see how you're beginning to flake and I can't let that happen to you.

Dear Family I miss so much. It hasn't been that long since I last saw you, but even that short time makes me miss your voices and pretty faces. I can't wait for the holidays so I can get that long anticipated hug and kiss!

Thoughts
I don't know about you guys but I can't wait for the holidays! Time is flying right by and I know when I least expect it the holidays will be here, but I can't help but to miss my family.

Recipe for a Happy Marriage

What makes a happy marriage?
Is there such thing as a recipe for a perfect marriage?

Who says there is a perfect marriage, I have yet to hear about or see one. I have been married for 4 years and, no, my marriage is not perfect. I know you might be thinking, "only 4 years, she's still in her honeymoon stage, what does she know." Yes, I have been married for 4 years but I have come to learn what works in my marriage and what doesn't. Some might agree and some might disagree, but that's okay because everyone lives their marriage according to what works for them.

So what works, what has worked for the Mr. and I??
I'll share with you our recipe for love and a successful marriage even if I have only been married for 4 years!

We are two people who:
Two people who are willing to meet in the middle in every life decision.
Two people who have endless respect for each other.
Two people who have endless communication.
Two people who are lovers, yet the best of friends.
Two people who share laughs together.
Two people who enjoy the little things in life.
Two people who learn to accept mistakes.
Two people who support each other.
Two people who learn from each other.
Two people who compliment each other.
Two people who sacrifice for each other.
Two people who share life goals.
Two people who accept imperfections.
Two people who value intimacy.
Two people who prioritize each other.
Two people who set pride aside.
Two people who are all about themselves.
Two people who never miss a goodnight kiss.
Two people who value the quantity of quality spent together.
Two people who have contentment but never have complacency.
Two people who always move forward to reach new heights.
Two people who choose to see the best in each other and in the world around them.
Two people who strive to give each other the very best of themselves.
Two people who have great foundations of faith.

I can probably keep going, but it's obvious, marriage is all about two people. These are things that the Mr. and I preach and value everyday. We value everything about each other and that's the reason why we decided to join our lives "till death do us part."

And if you must ask, yes, we bicker, disagree and get annoyed at times, but at the end of the day we talk and give each other a good night kiss and never ever hold grudges!

Everyone has their own recipe for a happy marriage and I definitely respect that. I love listening to stories of couples that have been married for years and year and years. When ever I ask for the their recipe they tell me, love, respect, and communication! I must say that my recipe looks good because at the end of the day that's what the Mr. and I value in our marriage.

This recipe of love hangs in my kitchen and love it!
I'm reminded of the basic ingredients of love :)

What are the most important ingredients in your recipe for a happy marriage?

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a wonderful Friday :)

Foyer Decoration + 4 DIY Halloween Projects

That "enter if you dare" is kind of spooky I have to admit. I love Halloween but I'm a scary cat when it comes to anything scary. I like to see pretty decorations and I like to see scary decorations from far away. The Mr. loves Halloween and he's always looking for the next scary movie to watch and I look at him with this look of "oh, no way" and sure enough that movie starts and I have to turn away or wear headphones, can you believe how silly I am, but I'm really terrified of scary movies and haunted anything.

My little foyer area (that's what I like to call it) is not as scary, I have touches of Halloween and Fall meshed together and the smell of pumpkin spice that burns every evening. I still keep my wedding pictures, because I love them, but I need to update those pictures. I also sixplay some of the most precious pictures that are dearest to my heart.

I'm always curious to see how people decorate their homes for the holidays, how do you like to decorate for Fall/Halloween?

I'll leave you with some DIY Fall/Halloween projects that I have created over the years, go ahead and take a look and hopefully you can get some ideas or simply just enjoy them for this Fall/Halloween season!

Happy Wednesday :)
Thanks for Stopping By!

Simple Things Sunday: Sunday's Letters

{image via flickr Sedona, AZ}

Dear Home Decor I love your simple lines, clean neutral colors, the touches of wicker here and there, the feel of old country yet modern and industrial, and the cozy feeling I get every time I look at your spaces. I might change a couple of things here and there like remove some of the black and replace it with some brown, but until then I'm in love with your accents and decor.

Dear Night Skies I long for the day that I can see your magic dancing in the sky. The colors of your milky way and the stars that adorn the night sky can take my breath away in every sense of the word. The way you light up every crevice and every path, the way you take over the beautiful sunset in the horizon, and the colors that burst out in the darkest of all places are pure magic that can't be explained just admired.

Dear John Legend as you continue to serenade every wedding, every couple, every young and old soul, I sit here and admire every word as I sing along to You're my end and my beginning even when I lose I'm winning 'cause I give you all of me and you give me all of you... Those lyrics will never grow old as I serenade the Mr. every chance I get.

Dear Pumpkin Spice I love your smell, that smell of Fall, the smell of cozy, and the smell of cool weather peeking through this Arizona Desert. My favorite time to smell you is when wax and wicks come together to entice every sense of smell in the room.

Dear Hair Of Mine I continue to go back and forth with the idea of shortening your locks or letting them grow free. I can imagine that this time of year is when I should let you grow free, but I can't help to think that you might need a new short look. For now I won't stress you out with my thoughts just continue to grow.

Thoughts
I love writing Sunday's Letters, I love how I can turn the ordinary into extraordinary. Every time I sit and write these letters I feel a sense of peace and I just love that. Sometimes I think to myself, "wow, I didn't know I could write like this, but I can!" It's another creative outlet aside from paper crafting :)

DIY Halloween Greeting Card

My all time favorite hobby is anything and everything to do with paper crafts.
I can literally sit for hours and hours and have a big mess all over my dining table because sadly I don't own a craft room, but it's on my bucket list for sure. This week I had a few hours to spare and I pulled everything out of my closet to create this Halloween greeting card. I should have taken pictures of the big mess but I didn't, I left that mess for the Mr. to witness
:) I have to tell you, that big mess was very satisfying because I actually had the time to make a mess and lately time is what I don't have.

Anyhow on to this DIY Card,,,

Materials I used are listed above

I had to take a close up of the these clear stamps, I absolutely love these. This is my favorite brand and I wish I owned all of them but I own a couple of Hero Arts stamps and they are the best quality. This set in particular is a great set to own because (if you celebrate most holidays) you get most of the holidays in one set.

This is also my all time favorite embossing ink (I use it for embossing purposes). This VersaMark ink has the right sticky consistency and doesn't dry right away, it's perfect for embossing projects.

By the way this is not a sponsored post, I just love these stamping products.

I wanted to use some 3-D embellishments and I decided to make my own spiderwebs. I loved the way they turned out and they're super easy to make.

If you want to see how to make these spider webs check this  DIY: Spiderweb Kirigami tutorial!

I love the look of embossed stamps, it just gives the card a different look!
Once again these are my favorite embossing tools!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY Halloween Greeting Card!

What hobby do you like to indulge in?
Do you love paper crafts like I do? If so, what do you like to make? What are you favorite craft tools?

Thanks for stopping By & Happy Friday!

Simple things Sunday: Sunday's Letters

{image via pixabay}

Dear Closet I walk into your tight spaces every morning and every night, I can't help but to feel overwhelmed with the mounts of clothing that just sit and sit waiting to one day be worn. I will try to clear some of those mounts to let you breath before I fill your space once again.

Dear Fall Leaves the nature of your chlorophyll break down brings upon colors that serenade the eyes. Those colors of green to yellow to orange and red are sure to light every path in my way and make me fall in love with every step I take.

Dear Cashier as I stand in line waiting to be helped by you, you seem so calm as you take so much from the person standing in front of you. Why is it that people take for granted jobs like yours. I admire what you do and how you deal with unthoughtful people.

Dear Arizona I have had the pleasure of living under your sun. stars and skies. Your hidden gems are like no other, those saguaros and those rock formations are fascinating in every way. I have yet to see everything you have to offer, but I will in due time, for now keep charming us with your hidden gems and beautiful land.

Dear Thrift Store your capacity to house so many recyclable objects is admirable. I love that you have given books a chance to live and be loved once again. Soon I will be stepping into your space and giving books a chance to be read again and again.

Thought
Just like many of you, I can't get over the thought that the weather is finally changing. This is my favorite time of the year and I can't wait to take full advantage of nice evening walks with the Mr. and the little one!

When do you know if you are ready?

How do you decide if it's the right time to plan for babies?
Am I being selfish for not wanting to have little ones, at least not for now?
What if things go as unplanned and everything changes?

So many questions, so I decided to somehow answer my own questions and share my thoughts with you. Since this is my blog and all, I can pretty much talk about anything I want, right! Yes, let's move on with this topic.

So a few nights ago I had this conversation with the Mr. and it went something like this:
Me: So, I've been thinking about our age, where we're at in our life, our marriage, our future and babies!
Mr: So what have you been thinking?
Me: Is it selfish to say that I love not having to wake up in the middle of the night to change diapers or feed a little one?
Mr: No.
Me: Sometimes I feel the pressure of having babies. I see all of these people surrounding us entering that new chapter, that baby chapter, and sometimes I feel like maybe that's where we should be too.
Mr: We have other priorities right now, and it's just not the right time to bring a baby into this world. The time will come but we shouldn't rush things.
Me: Okay, I'm just happy to know that it's okay to feel like this and that we're in this together. (ended the conversation with a big hug and a goodnight kiss).

This conversation made me realize that I should live my life according to what feels right. I believe that things will happen in due time. I have spent a lot of time comparing myself to my friends and I realized that I shouldn't compare myself. Sometimes I think about my age, I'm 27, and I'm okay with the thought of having children until I turn 30.

When family and friends ask, "when are you having kids" my answer is always the same, soon, in a few years, or simply I don't know. The pressure is always on and I think that's why I always end up comparing myself to those that have decided to become parents. The topic of "when are you going to have kids" will continue to be the same because honestly we're not ready for such a big responsibility both emotionally and financially.

I have so many things I want to do before I can dedicate my life and time to a little one. I want to achieve life goals. I want to travel and see new places with the love of my life. I want to experience life with my husband, just the two of us. I want to enjoy my marriage. I want to buy our first home. I want to be able to work hard to be able to give a little one the best of my time and the best of life. If that little one comes before I ever have the chance to fulfill my life dreams, he or she will be welcomed with open arms, but until then I'll keep going and moving on forward.

Some might say that I'm scared of the unknown, and yes that's true, but tell me who is not scared of life changes and the unknown, because I sure am and I know that I'm not alone. Some might say that one is never ready and to just do it, true, but when you know that you are not ready why jump into something. Is it okay to have these feeling of uncertainty?

I'll probably continue to have baby thoughts and continue to think when will I be ready for babies and I will tell myself "go back and read that post you wrote about the reasons why you decided to wait."  I'll look back on this and smile because it was life and I decided to live the greatest joys of life!

The struggles of life, when is the right time for anything?
Do you ever feel like I do, the pressure of doing something and not feeling ready?

Thank you for stopping by and reading my thoughts!
Have a great Friday!
