Holly Jolly Greetings to You

Dec 18, 2012

A Day of Silence

There's a special place in Heaven,
Where all Gods Children go.
It is a happy, peaceful place,
Where no child ever cries,
They are innocently content to be,
A blessed Angel in your eyes.
The one and only need they have,
Is for you to understand,
That only very special Children,
Are place in Gods loving hand.

-Chris Woolnough

A Crafting Kind of Day

'Tis the season to give, receive and enjoy!!

Instead of being out and about shopping for last minute
holiday gifts I decided to stay home, have my friends over,
and enjoy a full day of crafting, laughter, and creativity!

Crafting to me is one of those things that just relaxes me;
I forget about everything and enjoy the moment, but when friends
keep you company it makes it that much better!

Our craft day consisted of making our own pillows.
Our pillows were fun and definitely adorable.
I loved the idea of painting silhouettes, so much that
I even made a second pillow with my pups silhouette :)

Thanks to my lovely friends for keeping me warm
company on a rainy & cold day!

having fun"

I was so inspired by the Silhouette pillows that I decided
to make my own pillow using Riley's silhouette!

Riley was super excited to have his own pillow!

Our Holiday Pictures

This year we wanted our holiday greeting cards to represent the
beautiful Arizona desert. We found this beautiful oasis
and we couldn't help but take our pictures there!!
Everything was just perfect; breathtaking in our opinion :)

As you can already tell, red and white were our colors of choice.
We wanted festive holiday colors.. and even Riley had
a matching sweater!

May this holiday season  be filled with love, laughter and cheer!
We look forward to what the new year will bring surrounded by all our loved ones.

Happy Holidays

We have always chosen Shutterfly as our main provider
for anything that has to do with photo printing.
They really are awesome and the quality is great!

Here are our holiday cards we chose to send to our loved ones this year!!

DIY Tree Topper

As we were decorating our Christmas tree, we found that something was
missing, oh yes, a tree topper!

And so we went on the hunt for a tree topper. Sadly, we didn't find the one.
You know the one that makes you go.. Oh my.. that's the one I want!

Then the light switch went on; i'll just make my own.
My inspiration came from fallen lonely twigs.

I decided to make them beautiful and give them a place in my home;
the Christmas tree!

Here it is
DIY Tree Topper

Things you will need
hot glue gun
jute (optional)

Step 1
Arrange your twigs to make a star shape

Step 2
Hot glue all the ends together and middle parts too

Step 3
(This step is optional) I wanted to add some detail and so
I wrapped the ends with jute

Step 4
I wanted my star to have lights and so I used
Mini Lights (50 count)
Gold Metallic Spray Paint

Step 5
Spray paint your lights
Quick tip: make sure to not spray paint the actual light bulb

Step 6
Wrap the the lights around the star.
I used floral wire and also spray painted it the same gold color as the star.
I followed the lights along the natural lines of the star (front and back).

Here are the final results!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY

Christmas Traditions

Ever since we became our own little family, about three years ago,
we go on a hunt for our Christmas tree and ornaments!

We love real Christmas trees; it makes Christmas that much better.
We love the smell, the way it looks, we love everything about it :)

Ornaments are extra special for us because we have made
picking ornaments a yearly tradition!

This is how our tradition goes..
We started our tradition last year and this is our second year.
We go to Pier1 Imports and pick out three ornaments

One for me
One for the Marc
One for Riley

Our goal is to have a Christmas tree filled with big beautiful ornaments
in the near future. This is great for us because it doesn't brake the bank
and we make it exciting to go to Pier1 Imports  to pick out
Christmas ornaments once a year!

In our opinion, they have the best ornaments and they are extremely gorgeous!
They have a great selection!

These are just some of the ornaments I fell in love with.
I wish I could have bought all of them.. but I had to stick to our tradition :)

These are the three we chose!

These are the three from last year!

Our Christmas tree hunt..
We purchased ours at Home Depot

Here is our bare Christmas tree..

Here is our 2012 decorated Christmas Tree :)

What are your Christmas traditions?

Want to see how I made the tree topper?
Come back soon so you can see my new DIY project!

Embossed Paper Crafting

Embossing can make any paper craft look stunning!
This technique is great for any kind of greeting card or paper craft.

What I love about embossing
I love how an ordinary stamp can turn into something "magical"
I love how embossing is like adding a 3D embellishment to your project
I love all the different embossing powders and the amazing colors & textures
I love how fast and easy this technique is
I love pretty much everything about this technique..

I definitely recommend trying it.. if you haven't already!!

So what exactly is heat embossing??
Here is a great site where they explain the embossing technique in detail
Embossing Via: Oh So Beautiful paper

I didn't want my holiday greeting card envelopes to be so plain so..
I took my embossing tools out and made something magical
or at least that's how I would describe it :)

Here is what you need

Heat Embossing Tool
Embossing ink
Embossing powder
Envelope, Paper or anything you want to emboss

{embossing powder I used)

Here is what you do

First apply ink all over stamp

Stamp on desired paper & Apply embossing powder

Gently tap the excess off the paper.
Any specs of powder on the card,
remove them very carefully with a small paint brush.

Using an embossing heat tool, set the powder by heating it
(not too close or you’ll burn the paper) until the powder has solidified.
You will want to do a small area at a time to ensure proper solidification.

Final Results using other colors

Happy Embossing!!
